Reflecting on it all...
A collection of thoughts on living with an author (Joey) and trying to become one myself.
- Temperamental Authors
They say authors are temperamental but lately I've found we are not so much temperamental rather cursed by writers block witch makes us so bitter. This quality is often portrayed as lazy and eccentric in many things like shows. But rather if you look further past that, you find a desperate author who is struggling to grasp their muse just to please the Temperamental Publishers.
- Writers Block
Before I knew what it meant I thought writers block was just a loss of Ideas. But now looking back on it, I wish it were just that simple. It's a loss of your life's rhythm, a loss of your muse, and a loss of your sanity to witch goes out the window at any thought of losing an idea. In some cases even the most composed lose control to the point where they believe they will never write again... then they find their muse ... AGAIN.
- Blank Pages: The Never Ending Battle
The worst thing for an author is to sit in front of a blank page and stare because at this point that blank page starts fighting with you. And those around think you've gone mad when you're screaming "NO YOU WILL NOT WIN" out of no where. It becomes hard to even attempt writing because you're afraid to mess up and ruin what you've already written. So, at this point my solution is to go back and read what I've written in hopes that when I find the blank page again I'll know what to write. Now, this doesn't always work and when it doesn't (now I'm guaranteeing you that you think i'll give you the answer to conquering the blank page next, well nope) I have to admit very truthfully, I find myself running for my room in hopes my book won't find me there. It's pathetic to know that a simple blank page can bring me to tears, but in reality when you're an author (and those who are will agree) a blank page is just THAT scary.
Side note:
Joe, I'm there for you when you say you've lost your muse, I know how you feel, it's terrifying. And yes for all of you with annoying publishers, though I don't have one, it must be tough to have to stick to a deadline when you can't leash your muse enough to finish a page. And I too understand the horrible beast that is The Blank Page, and I'm there for you when your trembling under your covers in hopes your book won't find you. To all those authors who just can't seem to reach Inspiration, I'm right there with you.
